Your mindset is shaped by far more than just “mindset content.”
It gets shaped by everything in your life. So every Friday, I share what’s worth knowing from the week.
Insights
Eric Hoffer on change: "In times of change learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists."
Viktor Frankl on meaning: "Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked."
Samuel Beckett on trying again: "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."
Five Things Worth Knowing
1. AI Agents Go Mainstream
In six weeks, three of the biggest names in tech launched agents.
Grok Bot (mid-August): handles work email, sales databases and invoices. There are hundreds of powerful use cases.
Meta Muse (Sept 8): books travel, pays bills and shops for you. It hit 5 million downloads in 22 days. ChatGPT took 56.
OpenAI Dots (Sept 29): always-on agents that keep working while you sleep.
Takeaway: You need to spend time learning these tools. I always aim for deterministic workflows and automations. Meaning, clearly defined tasks that burn time, and solutions that produce quick and measurable ROI. My personal favorite still remains Grok Bot of the three.
2. Habits can flip overnight.
Johns Hopkins researchers tested habit formation with mice, expecting the new habits to form slowly. Instead, the behavior switched from one trial to the next … change was fast.
I’ve been preaching this since I began teaching courses and workshops with other inmates while in prison. Small, identity-focused habits grow quietly, until one day they flip.
Takeaway: Change looks like nothing, then everything all at once. You change a lot faster than you’d assume … humans are extremely adaptable.
3. Searching for meaning wears you down.
A three-year study of 1,239 frontline care workers found that people who felt meaning in their work experienced less work-related burnout, while those without experienced far higher rates. Having a purpose greater than yourself cannot be underestimated.
The takeaway: You won’t find meaning by looking for it. You build it by doing. Swap "what's my purpose?" for "who can I be useful to today?" Then go do that. Guide yourself through action. It works every time.
4. Thirteen launches. Then orbit.
On Sept 28, SpaceX's Starship reached orbit for the first time. It was the 14th full-scale launch. None of the 13 before it made it. The speed of which SpaceX learns from failure never stops impressing me.
Takeaway: The Army runs an After-Action Review after every mission, win or lose. Four questions: What was supposed to happen? What actually happened? Why? What will we do differently next time? Run those four on whatever you’re currently working on.
5. AI Replacement Was Oversold.
Gartner predicts that by 2029, 30% of workers laid off because AI “replaced them” will need to be re-hired, often at a higher cost. I have been saying this for a while now. My prediction: AI will empower junior employees while gutting bloated middle-management.
Takeaway: Flatter teams. Product designers write the marketing. Marketers shape the product. Engineers talk to customers. AI gives every person more reach, so you need fewer layers of managers in between. The roles getting cut are the ones that only passed information up and down. The people getting hired are the ones who build, sell and solve.
Final Thoughts
I've always been obsessed with learning. Most days I go down three or four rabbit holes. For years I kept the best of it to myself. Worth Knowing is where it all goes now.
