In prison, you have a lot of time and very few quality inputs. For a while I let that work against me. I focused on the walls, the sentence, the time. The subconscious was eating everything I fed it and building a life-sized version of what I kept looking at.
Then something shifted. I started being deliberate about what I gave my attention to. Books. Ideas. Questions worth sitting with. I stopped rehearsing resentment and started rehearsing vision.
The cell didn't change. My attention did. And eventually, so did everything inside me.
I'm not telling you the story to make it dramatic. I'm telling you because most people are living in a mental prison that has nothing to do with four walls. They're locked in by the things they can't stop looking at. The comparison. The fear. The story about why it's too late or too hard or not for people like them.
Attention is the most powerful resource you have. Not money. Not talent. Not time. Attention, because it determines how all the others get used.
What you focus on, you fund. Choose accordingly.
